Team Menagerie-trois votes as follows.

[COLOR="LemonChiffon"][x] Our team is unsatisfied with the settings listed here and thinks Spies and Corporations should be discussed further. (Respectively on with civic/religion swaps banned, and on completely.)

[ ] Our team objects to one of the following minor or assumed settings which were not included in the original ballot:
___ Vassal states off
___ Random events and huts off
___ Normal game speed
___ Difficulty/wrap/world size at mapmaker's discretion, to be announced before the pick
___ Water-ness of map at mapmaker's discretion, to be announced before the pick
___ Diplo victory enabled so as not to remove AP/UN, but using the victory vote in-game is banned
___ Communication with other teams is not permitted without in-game contact, including public communication
___ Turn order will be random and independent of pick order
___ Starting screenshots will be shown to us by Commodore before the snake pick
(Optional: [x] But we withdraw our objection to any given item unless a majority of teams object to it.)

[ ] Our team has an additional proposal to make and wishes for a slight delay in finalizing the settings: _____

[x] Our team has additional comments that do not require a holdup: Join Team Menagerie-trois... we're the best!

[x] This form is biased and/or disenfranchising and its results should not be considered valid.

I thought spies were banned, so the missions can't be used anyway?

All right, I guess we will disregard the information gathered by the form. Did you have any further comments? =)

Fairly sure which way the winds are blowing, but thought I'd represent the opinions of those on my team anyway. smile

Was it our start that you peeked at, by the way? tongue

With regards to the order posted by Commodore, I'm not sure why turn order was determined before snake pick order. Shouldn't that logically have been the other way around? In any event, if Commodore wants to switch the turn order with the snake pick order and generate a new turn order instead, then I'm sure we'd be quite happy. :neenernee

OK, seriously, I guess you didn't really mean that you think we should throw out the results of the form? I'll go along with assuming it was a joke. smile

In that case you are calling for a re-vote on spies and corps. While I personally would prefer those settings changed I don't foresee the second vote turning out different than the first. Can you confirm you want us all to re-vote on those? If so I suggest you try to convince people to change their mind, too. wink

I checked that box in our forum just because it was there. Couldn't help myself. I mean, seriously, disenfranchising?

Oye, a lot to catch up on in this thread. In regards to the three outstanding matters:

- We'd prefer that the turn order be independent of the pick order, and that it be randomized. Obviously we like the current turn order smile However, if a clear majority of teams feel like it needs to be rerolled, we won't object to it.

- We have no objections to Krill's suggested Ammendum on banning the Declare War, Make Peace, and Assign City AP Resolutions.

- Team Pirate voted for Corporations and Espionage out. However, these won out by near margins, and we had a lot of people vote for limited espionage and Corporations on. We're fine with postponing the snake pick a little longer to revisit the issue of Espionage and Corporations. Personally, I would rather see them both on.

Wait, I missed everything after GES claimed a team I am on will be lax in reporting? Has my 2 years of mediocre MP play here proved nothing?
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

This is my personal opinion, not necessarily the team opinion, but there seems to me to be a moderate power difference between picking first and last and picking 5th and 6th (likewise, I feel that second and second-to-last is stronger than fourth and fourth-to-last, etc). Since there is a very definite advantage to being ahead in the turn order, I think that making the turn order the reverse of the first round of the snake pick lessens this advantage.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.
