I am not sure CMF realises the difficulty of defending against longships (being able to by-pass and attack from multiple positions his choke points), luckily there won't be too many before he gets frigates (which will still be expensive even for him to mass build).

If I was Suboptimal, I would have liberated Nazca and then retake it. And then raze Vladimir and replace it with faith bought settler. It prevents occupation penalty issues, now Chevalier who is already quite pissed off, has even less reason to peace out Suboptimal.

suboptimal Wrote:Roland, my plan down here is to send two jongs to the city south of Rodeo and two up and around to where the capital is. After I took that shot I moved the pin one to the east since the horses are currently controlled by Rodeo while the coastal tiles and the mine are controlled by Illmatic. The two fleets should be able to capture all three cities relatively quickly and that should give me enough loyalty to hold the cities. From there I’ll go around to the east. I may drop off land forces at the capital to go attack the city to the south while the ships take the long way around and deal with the other two cities. If I do send land units that’s when I’d be doing the knight upgrades.
The odds that this ends in a catastrophic blunder for suboptimal have to be off the charts, right?

(Un)Fortunately (depending on your side), he might run quickly into enough ships that he will need to concentrate again to advance slowly (or even hold the position) and he won't have time to split seriously

If the Jongs get trapped on the wrong side of a choke point then "divide and conquer" will be swift, like when Oledavy crushed the Minas Gerais against the coast in PBEM4. Or at least that us the prediction of someone who does not understand civ6.

Looking at the damage from the jong in 'formation', if ever Sub is taking the promotion for extra damage to ship (which he doesn't seem to consider), he should be able to one-shot the galleys (and possibly break though) ?

I wonder whether Marcopolo did make correct decision regarding his formation layout:
Instead plugging Jongs behind Matlida, Marcopolo conceded terrain to Suboptimal and Marco might lose Rodeo next turn already if Suboptimal plays his cards correctly.
What could been be:
With this layout, if I am not mistaken, Suboptimal can only destroy 1 galley in order to move one of his Jongs to choke point, alternately he can destroy both galleys and capture choke points with quadrimes.
But with this Rodeo should be safe for one more turn.
Instead this might happen if Subopitmal plays his cards correctly:
Frist two Jongs with number 1 moves to spots and kill one galley before Rodeo, then two other Jongs with number 2 moves to spots and bombard Rodeo which shall see its HP deplete to zero or almost zero.
Then all what need is one swordsman to capture or raze city, Suboptimal either way is going faithbuy new fresh Jong. Also Chevalier's reinforcements are going be blocked by 1 tile chokepoint.

Also looking at the averge Jong damage caused bringing some galleys to softens opposite galleys and giving the killing blow by Jong could be brutal (both for number of sunken galleys and XP on jongs).
Even 4-5 jogs with expendable galleys could have been brutal here.

Definite shades of PBEM12 in that one, when Chevalier gave up a similarly located city to Archduke in a peace deal, built up an equivalent fleet during the DoF, stomped Rowain, then used his first strike to wreck Archduke's fleet and draw a concession.
I wonder if Archduke has that game in mind at all. I'm a little surprised he's even asking for the city given it's mediocre yields and short-lived strategic value.

It is now rise of Frigates and Caravel and same time dawn of classical ships. With that in mind, I see that Woden/Ljubljana team is about to get net gain of zero cities if they gift Akkad back.
In that case it means that they didn't gain any profit from their special UU, just only city states capture but others did pull off with normal galleys as well.
Unless Ljubljana is capable to take full advantage of 50% discount of settlers and all of his navy units as well Woden does with 50% for his melee navy units, I think that this team is out contention to win this PBEM, or they are going suprise me.
