[No Players] Lurker thread, to lurk and chirp

Heh, I certainly have a newfound respect for our map-makers. wink

You probably have a point regarding the size. The natural land is about right to have fun IMO, but the leaders will conquer someone and double their land and that's unwieldly. Personally I'm having fun with 19 but my preferred empire size would be smaller and right now my turns either take an age or annoy my ocd self.

That said, I told them I was rolling a Huge B&S map. I even got them to confirm the size. What more can I do? I did reclaim a little bit of tundra/ice land to even things up, but nothing more than a 10% increase at the very most. The only other option is to bring these concerns into the tech thread and recommend they go one smaller(and probably get a new mapmaker).

Other stuff:
Quote:orphaned fish at Mack's start assuming SIP. Either delete or mvoe the fish, that's just frustrating/unfun to a player.

Thanks, I'll fix it.

I don't think I agree that the Viking Land is too weak/small, Bob was just complaining the island was too big!

I have tried to increase player interaction a bit, both by increasing connections and leaving extra copies of luxury resources in potentially contested areas. I had another look at the map, there were two other ideas I was considering:

A few extra islands for a galley connection between east and west. I had thought to leave circum-nav as a bonus to an Optics techer.

Another connection here between the dutch and who-ever that is in the East.

And thought so obvious just hit me that it's amazing it took this long:

Connect up the land here so this land isn't backfill for the two of them. I probably thought that little channel looked too cool. I think I'll add all these in on reflection.

Tried more SP, latest version. Looks better, although I think the size of the map is going to make empires essentially unmanageable for late-game players who don't have an abundance of free time. Netherlands currently looks like the weakest start- tons of jungle, Sumeria has to expand through them. At this point though I think it's fair to release with the understanding that the player's are getting the epic but questionably balanced map they were asking for.

Ok, here's the final one for Caledorn then. (I noticed one of tiles in the screenshots had been changed).

After seeing the map I'm kind of glad I didn't play this game. I don't like this map, I'm not saying is a bad/unfair/unfun map at all. Just that I don't like.

Gah, I lost all those empty player slots somehow. This one is compatible with RB mod.

Um.. Did you attach the wrong file, TBS? Neither of those worldbuilder saves are compatible with RtR. And your latest post has a lower version number than your previous post.

I added teams and players 18-39 to your latest attachment (3.8) and sent it to Caledorn, but maybe I should have added them to the 3.8.1 attachment instead?
I have to run.

Sorry, yeah, I uploaded the wrong file. Here's the right one. It's just 3.8.1 with the extra players added. Please use this one.

Option for commodore. Settle N of the copper. Make 2 grass farm, mine 2 grass hill and hook the ivory and the copper. Get a size 1 granary. Do not chop just mine the copper so beeline pottery first and get the settler asap either through whipping or slow building at size 2. Stagnate at 5 with 1 farm ivory camp 2 grass mines and copper mine for 14hpt.

Just it sucks so much for anything except unit pumping but with a cheap barracks? Can easily make that productive and need hammers for that because the cap has difficulty getting hammers due to the sheer amount of food red that also bring in commerce. Then settle third and fourth cities to split off food from the cap by stacking whip anger.
