He reminds me of me 5 years ago, except the part where they use gay as a pejorative in chat.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

The fact that REM and AI aren't screaming at me is pretty commendable. I told them it was a really big map and they have no complaints about being stuck in a tiny little tundra hole with GJ blocking them in.
On the other hand if they complained about it a bit more they might realise they should really have a sea connection somewhere.

I like Jojo and he's got some skills, but I sense an emotional instability; he's pretty tilt prone, gets discouraged and/or distracted easily, and at times lacks empathy. Maybe Borsche will assist there; I know nothing about the guy. I do see some wonder rating elevation here; otherwise very balanced player.
-Voted most likely to regret a Jumbotron message. I no longer have nice things to say about Jojo; he's proven to be basically the "Leave Britney Alone!" chick with worse PMS. I don't know who he's met (civstats should tell us), but I'm sure he's already decided that the other guy is basically the worst human filth on the planet and is irrationally/spitefully wrecking Jojo's would-be-flawless game.
I get a kick out of posts like these, especially when the would-be clairvoyant is pretty much dead on.

The REM/AI thread is hard to follow but ...
It sounds like they're racing for the spot labelled two in the latest screenshot. Which is far closer to GJ. Despite the fact they know GJ settled for copper with city 2 and they're going after neither copper nor horse themselves. Their second city isn't great either, also trying to claim long term land rather than being an immediate boost.

I didn't think their second city plant was bad until I realized that I mistook that 1st ring, three food tile as corn, not sugar. 3W1S of their capital, just by eyeballing it, looks like it would have been a much better spot. Share the corn, work some mines (and some early silver commerce), pump out more expansive workers/settlers. 2nd ring borders enables two food tiles which can be split off to the copper city to the NW. SW or S of the sheep even seems better.

Yeah, I think that'd be the best second city too. It actually has 3 food resources in the 2nd ring. Could actually go 1NW of that to have them all first ring but that makes the rest of the dotmap pretty awkward. Just settle there and border pop ASAP.
I had forgotten that GJ was aggressive too, makes their play even more crazy.
I'm also looking forward to Comm realising it's actually dtay neighbouring him in the south.

I played out the Korean start until around T60 or so a week ago. The 3W1S is absolutely a better spot for the second city.
But this... Guys, this is just not the way to do it, especially for the reasons TBS mentioned. You're going to ignore your best city locations to settle in a straight line at an aggressive civ 11 tiles away from your capital (and only production) and you're going to do what? Put a holy city there? To do what?
To try to be constructive I looked around for a few minutes for a save so I could screenshot a more reasonable early game expansion plan but I didn't save my play session and have overwritten the auto saves, so no luck. But the 3W1S is way better. Get the shared food resources in play, hook up some silver to pay for new cities, and just churn out workers and settlers. The land is easy to fog bust with minimal units so, if you're careful, you don't need much defense at all.
Now I know that there is more land up north and have known its quality. They don't know its quality, but they also don't seem interested in doing more than this pre-defined MUST BLOCK AI OFF FROM EXPANSION ROOM plan. Build a galley and take some of the north! It is at least worth the investment in a galley work boat to find out what's there!

Heh, well REM certainly likes putting religion in his first expansions. He's a ladder guy, right? I've only ever played casual games on Gamespy, but being in-your-face with land-grabs is (was) fairly typical play, since games were too violent and didn't last long enough to build a traditional BTS economy. I'd wager this game plan is a result of that mindset.

Everyone goes through that ladder mindset at some point. They're screwed though.
Cue Noble commenting that is the mindset Commodore inhabits on a permenant basis.

I see the poorly-placed in-your-face city strategy as a single player mindset. (The AI doesn't react to it intelligently.) If it's common on the ladder, I'd expect it's because it came from games vs the AI and people never properly adapted.
Also I don't think I've seen it much here except from some of the players coming from other sites. But the people who really read reports here before playing usually don't do it.
