War can be re-declared on T35. I will have the gems roaded on T35, and the axe whipped T34. Utica can be attacked on T36 with 2 warriors and an axe. Need to decide if I want to chop another forest for a follow up axe which completes eot36 or farm the rice. I'm guessing chop to keep the pressure on TBH.
Once we know the result of the Utica attack I'll actually think about longer term strategies. I'm really just playing this game on autopilot.

Quote:After Polytheism, not sure what makes sense, I need both Wheel (roads for copper in capital) and Hunting (spears because I'm paranoid and GKC might be running for horses not copper), and eventually Pottery. I reckon Wheel first, capital can then chop out axes if needed.
...it has taken me 3 days, but I just realised I started with Hunting when I came to pick a tech and realised it wasn't there.
I really am not paying attention to this game.
In current matters: Utica grew to size 2 and I can declare war this turn, but I can't play until after GKC because it would be a double move. Whipped the axe and it can attack next turn. Still only a single warrior in the city, but he could whip an archer this turn.

Moved up an axe and two warriors, didn't declare war, archer popped out due to a whip. There is a single worker roading a flood plain, so maybe there are other units behind. Unless there is a second worker which will doube up the road will not complete this turn.
63% odds with the axe; I'll declare and attack and see what happens, (Edit: but there is an argument for throwing away a warrior at the archer to see what happens. Get 1 hit in and the odds jump to up to ~70%, 2 hits and they jump over 87%. 30% odds the archer takes no damage, 30% odds 1 hit, 40% get more hits in. Two warriors have around a 50% chance to kill a fully forted warrior in a flatland, no culture city, but that means it's a 25% chance to take the city this turn. I'd rather wait to see what he does before making a decision on the best route of attack).

Actually, odds of success in killing the archer jump to around 75% if I throw a warrior at it. I need to be careful because if the archer wins two battles I could potentially lose city2. So throw in a warrior and re-evaluate.

So I threw a warrior at the archer and got 3 hits in, Axe cleaned up at 96% odds but dropped to 49hp. This isn't an issue, because I can promote C1 and to 74hp on T37, and then on T39 the axe will be full health and can attack again. Workers will chop T38, and I can also whip the axe on T38 to overflow out 35 hammers to finish axes eot38 and eot39.
I suspect that there will be another archer in Utica this turn (as I feel that is what GKC whipped on T35 and why he is belatedly roading), but it doesn't exactly matter now: Utica is flatland and I should be able to 2v1 any archers in the city from this point, rather than having to deal with them on a hill city with 40% culture. There is a granary in Carthage, so GKC can basically turn that city into a quagmire of whip unhappy if he wants. It regrew to size 3 this turn, so that's another archer whip that can get into Utica on T39. I do have the option of trying to choke with the axe, to stop archers reaching the city, but at 74hp I don't think I can realistically achieve that: two archers will almost always win, 1 archer has 25% odds of victory against a 74hp axe. But I can definitely stop more than 2 archers reaching the city and then collapse upon it.

Next turn the axe will be CR1 and 89hp.
A warrior-pult will again have 70% odds of getting 1 hit or more in. My axe would have 82% odds on the archer after 1 hit, or 87% odds after 2 hits. And against an 87hp archer, a victorious axe would gain 3XP and be able to promote again...decisions, decisions.
All this is irrelevant if another archer moves in next turn, which was completed from natural production.

I went for the second archer clearance but the warrior bounced, so I've stopped there. two new axes means one will stay on the jungle hill and I'll have to go around and pillage the road into Utica. No quick victories here.
Should have gone with Aggressive Sumeria, but this is tight even for a small map with 6 players. Oh well. If the RNG doesn't like you, not much you can do about it.
