You could try the CFC HOF assets checker here: (don't worry that it will say the HOF mod files aren't there)
http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/mod.php?...etschecker
If that shows no modified files, then the cause is that you have an *extra* copied or renamed file in your assets directory somewhere. This causes the assets validation to fail even if it is not used.

sunrise089 Wrote:It probably isn't a huge problem. We're operating under the honor system that you didn't lower the tech costs or something silly (someone more knowledgeable than me might know what info is kept on the client side of pitboss). In the past that error was due to cracks and noCD mods, but that's become less common since the game went noCD in patch whatever. I'm never sure exactly what causes these problems, but perhaps one possibility is something unusual in the Custom Assets folder? (C:\Users\YourName\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CustomAssets) I really don't know for sure though. In past games I've played in it's never seemed to be a problem when someone gets one of those errors (they can still keep playing regardless), but it'd still be nice to get to the bottom of it anyway.
sunrise089 Wrote:EDIT: The turn limit is 999 inputted by me when loading the game. I told Civstats that as well and I'm guessing it had some sort of max turns thing that defaulted down to a lower number. Number of turns in the game detection seems to work kind of poorly in pitboss anyways. Out of curiousity, why did you put in a turn limit? Obviously we're never going to reach turn 999, but we're never likely to reach 2050 AD either. I'm a bit confused as to why this was necessary.
Also, as has already been requested a few times... can we please get that civstats registration password soon? It's a bit of a pain playing in pitboss games where you don't get notifications of the new turns.

I rock a MAC (I do a lot of digital photography and find MACs do a great job for that), so when I downloaded this my OS didn't like it at all. I actually did find the box that the original CD was in so I think I will just re-install the game later this evening and see if that solves it. Thanks for all your support and suggestions.

Might be useful for the players who haven't yet posted a contact email to post one now. Otherwise it might be a bit revealing when someone suddenly requests an email address partway through the game.
Or should we assume that the PM system will be the default for the players who haven't posted an email address? (I assume the PM system is all up and running for everyone here?)
Just a thought, anyway.

Ok, a few civstats things:
1) I tried to correct the number of turns, and confirmed inputting 999 auto-changes to 127. Weird
2) Civstats civ passwords are set as "sirian" for everyone.
3) I've set the civs for everyone. Civstats now has BtS civs but still doesn't seem to support unrestricted leaders. I find civs easier to remember so I chose those (normally it also helps to at least have accurate colors, but not in this game...).

It is using a 8 bit signed integer so unless you want to roll it over to -128, I'm not sure its going to do anything useful.

Anyone know if WarlordDr's re-install was successful?
Is that the only thing stopping us from moving on to Turn 2?
