That's part of the point of the fast unit, however they get butched by spears/pikes/rifles. On defence you are supposed to spend a lot on getting an excess of those units to counter fast movers forking your cities. If you can use intelligence/sentry net to find out exactly how many fast movers an invader has then you can use said intelligence to your advantage.

Sure, if there's only one possible place to attack, the spears/pikes/rifles will win. However, in most situations the mounted units can threaten multiple cities, which forces the garrison units to split up, giving them a huge advantage over 1-movers. And spears/pikes have no other purpose except to counter mounted, so they really should win easily. It just seems like almost every attacking force I've seen is composed entirely of mounted units. Even on defence, mounted is often better for defending multiple cities.
Either the fast movers are under a protective stack or not. If the fast movers have split off then you can attack with the spears/pikes/rifles with odds. So long as they aren't drafted rifles against C1/pinch Cav, anyway.
If they are under a stack then you should pretty much always be relying on collateral damage and then cleaning up with whatever you have at hand. So, I'm fairly bored, and was wondering if anyone would be up for an MP game tonight, using the mod?
When? What would we have to do exactly to play it?
