thank you. i appreciate your welcome. i think i will post pictures, maybe with sometimes also a thought or few as well as answering any questions. i accept that people wont learn much from this thread and thats fine. i can use this to get some thoughts down for remembering later.

i choose elizabeth of egypt. why because despite having the misfortune of being a leader of england in game, elizabeth is a very strong character. i am also studing the game where sulla playe and he used her very well. i think i will be able to pick up some tips and try mimic to be the best i can be. egypt is because of war chariot. the games i read recently showed pyramids to be really strong and after seeing an industrious and india already picked, i know i cannpot probably build them first. so, this way i cand efend my land and maybe conquer them from whoever does build.

i have started the game and am very happy with what i have found so far. there is silver to my south with grass which will be so good as im financial.


i think i will make my second city below the silver because that is coastal and has silver, corn and spice! what are your thoughts please?

Sulla brought me here too, PB2 was a big part of it. I like you initial thoughts and your pick. Egypt for short term survival until Liz's long term traits can get rolling.

Posting here isn't just so other people can learn, but also so others can advise you. I'm no expert, but I can offer my services as a dedlurker/advisor if you post regularly. Occasional shots of city tiles and the demo screen are helpful for that.

That is certainly a nice spot - irrigated corn, river, and an immediate happy bonus is really nice. Especially nice site for Financial! One thing to consider is distance from the capital - that site is 5 tiles away from your capital. That's not necessarily horrible, but it's the one downside I see because it could be harder to defend yourself if you ever got attacked early on. I think it's a strong site, but you probably need more scouting information. It's also nice sometimes to be able to chop forests for early cities to get a quick start, and you would not be able to do much of that in that city.

I don't think you need to write it off as the second city just yet, just trying to give you more things to consider in your decision.

Everything Scooter said. Also you need to know where copper and/or horse can be found before planning cities. Especially with War Chariots, a second city toward horses can be powerful.

Do you have much experience wth city specialization? If so, how do you generally find your first 2-3 cities specialized?

The first few decision you have to make occur the turn after you finish your first worker, and the turn you finish your first settler. Strictly speaking, you don't have to decide exactly where you will plant the second city until the settler is finished, so deciding exactly what you are going to do on t0 with no flexibility often leaves you in a bad position as you gain new information.
