Hah! Bastards, I suppose I can deal with Newcastle's worst players. Might I add 'Boumsong' to the list? Oh, and the controversial 'Nacho Gonzalez'!

sure no problem.

seems we have been met by briskastley. i wonder if he'll ever give me up? he wants a nap which i dont mind depending on how long.

he wants a 7 turn nap that doesnt end without saying so. i think i should accept, then in 7 turns when his warrior is gone, cancel it. that means we can still use war chariots but he cant annoy my worker or capital.

Generally rolling NAPs have a cooldown...

this is what i mean. we have a nap for 7 turns, then i tell brickastley that i would like to start the cooldown, then in another 7 turns, we dont have a nap.

this is good because it means his warrior cant cause us trouble now but he still has to worry for war chariots or janniriots.

it looks like the land is copied, look at this

the stone islands look the same. it would be really nice to put a city on there but how can i do that? i need to make a city on the sea to the west and sail a galley to it. this means we cant do it quickly. i am thinking that second city will go 1 above the silver now. that is a good site. what are the best ways to get the borders to get the food? is religion good yet or should i wait? i remember reading sullla who said that religion in start of the game is not very good.

Religion is bad in single player against AIs. Instead, let somebody else found a religion and then adopt it yourself. You'll get a lot more out of a friendly diplomatic partner than you will from having your own religion.

In multiplayer, religion is never actually bad. It's just a question of competing priorities, like worker techs and Bronze Working, and the risk of wasting beakers if you aim for a religion but miss it.

If you don't get a religion, you'll need to build a monument at that city site to expand the borders. Alternatively, you might settle south of the silver instead, to have a food resource in first-ring right away instead of needing the border pop.

Stone City: That would be a good spot for a city... later. Your 2nd and 3rd cities need to payback immediately. Basically the most fertile site in range should be your 2nd city. Honestly I don't see a good candidate yet, but I notice you haven't scouted at all to the North or East.

If you're right about the map tessellating, you have opponents very near to your NW and SE... like right on the other side of those sheep! Any chance of getting a bit of scouting done to your north before you settle city2? Nowhere near the silver has as much food as I'd like to see for a second city.

Opponent orientation:

S'Cat -- Slow -- *YOU* -- Brick -- Azza

I gathered this from the public player thread... it looks like everyone is set on a diagonal across the map. This is similar in concept to PBEM26; peruse those threads to see how the alignment of teams led to natural rivals. The "off axis" (perpendicular to the alignment of starting positions) offered very good expansion chances with some otherwise missing resources... I expect the same opportunities here.

How do you feel your opponents are doing so far? Is all your espionage focused on Brick for now? (By that I mean have you adjusted points in the spy screen?)

Also, how big is the map?
