Interesting culture distribution between Yuufo and Catbandit...

Looking good, especially if you can lure their stack into the firing line of your cats. Shame about the spear and axe - I think you need to get yourself a sentry chariot.
![]() I think I'd push on to Alcatraz and make Avio choose to defend there or attack Nobamba (if you leave a small enough garrison in there to make it tempting, you can leave some reinforcements 1NE of the city to take it back again if he does attack - also he won't be allowed to burn it, so you don't lose the city, although you might lose some buildings.) While your stack is so much bigger than his you should take advantage and you can afford to lose all your units as long as you kill him in the process (losing them without wiping him out isn't so good though). Once he has construction things will change quickly. ![]() I don't think the border pop in Nobamba will help you by the way - there is too much Zulu culture in the way.

Yeah, Yuufo expanded out towards Maga/Asterix early, so she reacted by sending her settlers to take all the unclaimed land left between them, resulting in that funny border, which Catbandit inherited. Awesome feedback, thank Old Harry I was thinking about sending the main stack against Alcatraz to force Aivo into a decision, while hiding some troops to hit Nobambo if he decided to take back the city. But I thought it was probably too crazy to divide up my stack like that. Your suggestion gave me the confidence to go ahead and do it. ![]() Don't worry, if everything goes horribly wrong, we can always blame Caledorn (where has he disappeared to, anyways?) Fake Edit: Actually, Aivo finished up their turn while I was typing this report, and they did not take the city. I'll log in momentarily to see what they did. Here's what my cities are doing: ![]() Demos and full set of graphs showing Suttree getting even further ahead of the field: Oh, and I checked the team email last night and saw this from last Thursday (whoops!) Now I am probably going to be blamed for pre-senility as well... :P
As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master. - Commissioner Pravin Lal, "U.N. Declaration of Rights"

Just a quick update on what Aivo did.
![]() ![]() 10 dead units to 6 kills. Basically, our attacking stack has been wiped out I might be able to take out 4 of their remaining attackers, then try to get a new stack put together in the next few turns to advance on Alcatraz. At least their progress towards Construction has been paused.
I was willing to chalk this loss up to poor play, but upon closer examination it appears that the only reason Aivo was able to rip up my stack was pure dumb RNG luck. Here are the odds he had for each of the battles he won: 25% 25% 25% 32% 50% 69% (flawless win) 56% 68% 68% 90% By all rights, he should have been throwing his units into a meat grinder, but instead he was able to eliminate my army and gain two GG's. In my frustration, I ran my two injured cats into his stack, needlessly giving his troops more experience. Then I used my two axes to kill an axe and a chariot. He now has 4 injured axes and 2 injured impis left over. We moved in 5 axes, 3 cats, 2 chariots, and a spear. We'll be able to add another chariot next turn when the stack moves next to Alcatraz. Hopefully that will be enough to take out the city, but we might have to attack over a couple turns. I'll get pictures up later.
Sorry!
![]() good to hear that you've got enough to carry on, but bear in mind he'll promo-heal next turn...

In progress: Rimworld ![]() Whelp! This offensive is over for now. Not sure it's even worth trying to get peace from Aivo. Based on what he said in the tech thread and his whipping everything to the ground, I think he's in this for the long haul. I'll probably just squirrel everything into Nobambo until I can get enough of a tech advantage to come back again (at this rate I'll get maces well before he gets cats). Spies sure would be nice about now. |
