You should rename it Hoth as Rego valiantly tried to hold the city long enough to evacuate everyone before a ton of four legged beasts broke through their defenses and took out the shield generator. lol

Ironic ain't it?

Speaking of irony, the name 'CoW' is also quite ironic considering you're taking down India. You should keep it rather than going with one of the other names.

Oh one other thing I thought about that I wanted to comment on.

I felt that the whole remoting in / misclicking posting was over the line.

Deception with worker movements and such are all in-game stuff, and while they annoyed me (mostly for having been deceived), in the end, I'm over it.

But I feel like there should be separation from in-game and out-of-game issues, and so posting in the IT thread about remoting in and that causing misclicks was over the line IMO

Not a big deal but I thought it was worth mentioning

We had a discussion in lurkers thread and it seems most of us agree that this over the line....

Yes I had meant to comment on that! I did feel bad about that. Though the problem I described was giving me great headaches and problems trying to accomplish anything while remoted. For what it's worth the suggestion Sunrise gave has actually improved the problem tremendously. Not eliminated it but it has improved. Regardless the time I played that "misclick" was not when I was remoted in and the post was not only to get help with my problem but to aid in the deception so ya it was a bit overboard.

I think the historical parallel here is just too strong smile so we're likely to keep the Istanbul as the name. Also, not being that familiar with star wars I checked and Hoth was a planet that was actually *lost* by the Rebel Alliance! We don't plan to have that happen smile

EDIT: @Rego/Darrel -- I still want to reply to your posts myself, but haven't yet found the time. I will do it though.

I'd be all for Hoth but already agreed at Kalin's request to rename Athens to Istanbul for historical reasons. Kind of breaks the theme but oh well. Given that there's no snow on this map, this would probably be the best bet for Hoth as well!

I also regretted having done that in retrospect. We won't do this again for sure! The IT thread should be kept separate from in-game issues.

Again, I really regret that incident, but it was done in the heat of preparation for the war, so we didn't take the appropriate time to think about the implications of it. I apologize.

NP - it's all a learning experience and hopefully by RBP29 we'll have them all straightened out lol

Similarly I regret some of the moves I did in PB1, not only for the grief / flak that I've taken over them but in retrospect, they are not the way I would prefer to play the game.

So catching up on some diplomacy. E-mail off to Greece:
Quote:Hi Jowy,

Well, the final battle against Byzantium didn't go so well. We lost
3/5 HAs. We are had 6 HAs (one was behind) and now are left with only
3, which is one short of the 4 we were almost sure to have. We intend
to build at least another one relatively quickly, hopefully it will
make it before T100. At the moment we have a force of 3HA and 4
chariots that will go your way. As we promised we will help you in
your battle against India as much as we can, no matter what happens or
how long it takes.

We have entered an alliance with Rome, and we think it would be good
for you to join as well in a 3-way alliance. However, our alliance
will still stay the same. Let us know your thoughts on this.

We should also start discussing a land partition of the former
Byzantine lands. There is no rush of course. We have not yet fully
scouted that area and it may take us some time to do so as we don't
have spare units for that (all of them will go your way smile ). As
promised we will be generous and fair, and we'll discuss. Before
settling in that direction we would first consult with you and we
would appreciate if you did the same.

Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.

Response from Greece:
Quote:Hey guys,

Congrats on your victory wink I'm very impressed how it turned out. Like I said when we met, Byzantine underestimated you, and now in the end it cost them the game! I talked with Rome and am willing to join in the three-way alliance, unless they object. I'll let you be the middle-man here setting it up, if you don't mind.
About Byzantine's lands.. I haven't scouted them yet either. But I'll promise to give you a fair share, afterall we are allies and you were the one to defeat Byzantine. Let's talk about that more when we have information, let's for now decide things city-by-city. Contact the other before settling towards Byzantine's lands.

E-mail back to Greece:
Quote:Hi Jowy,

Thanks for the congratulations. We are happy that it's finally over.

Discussing settling city-by-city and discussing plans before settling
sounds good. We plan to settle first our border with the Incas. I just
talked to DSP (who's playing Inca) now and realized they settled a
city with an overlap with one of our planned cities. Unfortunately it
appears that we may have misunderstood them at the time and agreed to
that. I was not particularly happy with the Incas at the time, but we
were really pressed by Byzantium. In any case, their very tough
negotiation got them an extra tile, but not a friend.

We will send an email to both Rome and you establishing a formal 3-way
alliance between us.

Sorry for being a bit short, but I am quite busy at the moment. Let's
stay in touch.
