Killing 60 Barb units and they are still coming shows that such a huge, poor part of the world with lots of wasteland forces a Nation to fall behind.

Too bad there's a cap on barb xp. You could have some units ready for Commando at this point (tech requirement notwithstanding)! That's crazy.

Yeah, I did not anticipate barbs being so bad for your start. I guess the others on the continent being closer together meant less barbs could spawn down there and you got all their barbs too, since the spawn rate is connected to continent size IIRC.

Commodore being annoying. He started also golden age and converted to caste. Easy to guess he'll pop borders sooner than my Monuments can do it, but that city will be utter carbage so his plan is just to put pressure on my cities. I'll chop those forests to military/walls and let's see if he brings enough to capture the cities. If he doesn't I'll surely try to raze that city at some point.

Commodore culture-bombed the border city and made my cities there indefensible. I tried to make it a bit expensive to capture them, but it seems RNG didn't do me any favors this time and I did lose more units than him. I took white peace afterwards. This slows me down even further and I already was quite a bit even before this.

Not sure what to do. My chances of winning have gone. Revenge could be one option, but I don't like the idea of totally giving up so I guess I'll try to get my economy rolling a bit better and hope again that someone else will hand me the game. At least I'm getting my Golden Age in couple of turns.

Sorry lurkers. I still find playing enjoyable, but I'm just too lazy to report at the moment. Took some screenshots for you this time though.

Had to wonder how Commodore can focus all his forces on my border and not towards the player just about to get Rifles. I had to build military instead of e.g. Universities. Well I guess Commodore has concluded he can't win so why not try to help the leader so he can get rid of this one .
