Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

If no one posts anything in the next 12 hours I'm just going to run that through the tool Joey made and then give out everything.

So why not use Mirrorland?

Pretty cool map. I'm just wondering if forcing players to settle the islands for horses will be too swingy if the RNG sets a lot of barbs on one island.

They can settle on horses, 4 tiles from the capital, and it does mean they will have less difficulty dealing with another players rush. Also barb numbers on an island are limited by the total number of tiles on that island, so it shouldn't be an issue unless players are lazy with escorts. Copper and iron are easily accessible.

I liked the map.

I didn't notice any issues with it - the horses on another island is an interesting touch. the person who figures out how it's set up will have a pretty big advantage, cause they could boat someone before being known. I checked that everyone had copper and iron and it looked like the other resources were all there for each start, as well.

This has the final PB29 map as far as I am concerned. The starts are not allocated, and there is no snake order pick. Someone needs to assign each start to a player, and then give them one of the start sims. And then it's just ordinary adjustments to the world builder save after the snake pick is done, the start techs, civs and leaders etc beed changing.

I'll allocate the starts. They are all the same, in any case.

huh - I thought I had posted here asking if someone more competant than I could do the map. Never mind - I asked Joey for directions (no, I didn't give him the map wink)

Ah, ok. It's not too tough though. The easiest way to do it is to make a custom game, click the options you want (large size, no huts, no events, medium distance maintenance, tech cost scaling, no tech trading), then assign the proper leader/civ combos to the 9 players. Generate the game, then save a worldbuilder save. Exit Civ4. Now, open that save up in notepad, and open the actual map up in another notepad window. Select from the line that says "end map" (you can use ctrl-f to find this) to the top of the file, and copy; then select the same lines in Krill's map, and paste. Remove the lines that say Archery, and find/replace the word "NOBLE" with "MONARCH" - and that's it!

When I did this, I noticed that the BeginMap->EndMap section changed from:

BeginMap
grid width=54
grid height=45
top latitude=45
bottom latitude=45
wrap X=1
wrap Y=1
world size=WORLDSIZE_LARGE
climate=CLIMATE_TEMPERATE
sealevel=SEALEVEL_MEDIUM
num plots written=2430
num signs written=0
Randomize Resources=false
EndMap

BeginMap
grid width=104
grid height=64
top latitude=90
bottom latitude=-90
wrap X=1
wrap Y=1
world size=WORLDSIZE_LARGE
climate=CLIMATE_TEMPERATE
sealevel=SEALEVEL_MEDIUM
num plots written=6656
num signs written=0
Randomize Resources=false
EndMap

Does that matter? Do I need to restore it to what was in the file before?
