So, turn finally roles...This is what I get for not sending the pokes. Hopefully people see this as legitimising "Mah authoritah" to berate the slow players :D

Anyone, the good news: Abba lives, at 1.3 health, and a promotion next turn, most likely to Woody1. I kinda mismoved it, heading SE, but that is partly to gut instinct (something I occasionally use). I didn;t want to heal this turn, so the choice was SW or SE, and I didn't feel that good about SW for some reason...

Gaskin, moves to the east, evading the bear...need to start moving him NE to find the Incans, can't really afford to move much further east anymore...

And here is the bad news. I decided to risk it, and moved Snouty south...and ran into a lion. Could have been worse, a bear or warrior and then I'd have basically a 50/50 chance of winning, this way I have about a 65% chance of survival, but Snouty would have 4XP, and be severly injured, ie anout 5+ turns healing minimum. Which is annoying, attackers getting double the XP because the attacker gambles, but when an explorer gambles, there is no such pay off...although as he is most likely dead, it doesn't really matter.

And here is the city of Lakeview...rather intriguing, it has an irrigated rice, and is on a nice river, so is probably going to contribute enough commerce that Carthage aren't taking the piss with their maths estimate...

So...Mayans sent a chariot south, and have it next to an Indian city (the copper pigs one), which is guarded by a lone warrior. That is a kill at least every 4/5 times for Maya.

I would like to point out that if you already have designs on settling to the NW, it isn't friendly of you to try and stall someone that has tried to get you into the Alliance, and enable tech trading with you.

FWIW, I have a complete dearth of food resources to my east, that sheep tile near the horse is my only one, which is why I would like to settle it. Before I met you, I saw the nice city location on the plains hill for both the sheep and the horse, but after I met you and realised the horse was so close to your capital, I decided that it wouldn't be worth antagonising someone who could be a good friend in this game over something so trivial, so I decided to pull back.

So, my proposal is this: You want the horses, and I want the sheep. I settle 1NW of the sheep, you settle 1NE of the horse. That gives you a minimum of 8 grassland tiles, and as an EXP leader you can easily get a granary in the city before size 2. If you irrigate a few grasslands, the city will quickly grow to maximum size, when you cottage over most of the farms, and continue to grow at +2/+3 food per turn, and hey presto, you have a great commerce city and horses.

Turn report...Damnit, Snouty died frown but in fact he only had a 56% chance of living...bummer.

Bigger issue was that I found 2 Carthaginian workers roading towards the horse, and I can't have them settling for that sheep, so I initiated diplomacy with them about it as per above. If they dare settle the sheep tile I'm going to be seriously pissed, to the extent that I'm considering breaking the Alliance to take them out, unless they give me a very good reason not to.

This turn, next turn, and the turn after are going to be slow turns. This turn, got to wait to Maya/India to resolve themselves, next turn I need to go towards the end of the turn (need to make sure that the 3 teams below me have finished moving), t63 is tech trade day. The fast part of the game might be done with, but t60 isn;t a bad turn to finish 2 turns/day, considering a world war is about to erupt.
