Message from Inca to Aztecs. Inca are being thick, they know Ruff has a chariot, possibly more, they know how injured it is, they should be able to figure out the amount of XP the chariot earned when it killed the axe...they also risk losing all of their attacking forces without reprisal. What they should know most importantly is that they can't slow Ruff down economically, and that they have made an enemy for hte rest of the game. What they now need to do is to grow as strong as possible to weather any retaliation, or try to make ameds with Ruff.

To do the former means making peace (on Ruffs' terms), and the latter means making peace (on Ruffs' terms').

Aztecs can't be kept down because Ottomans have to be viewed as possible "vassal" masters, and could possible gift workers/settlers (in another world, same with India), so can't plan to reinvade quickly and wipe them out with chariots and axes...that is an empty threat from Inca, even if they don't know it. They would be leaving themselves open to an Ottoman and HRE fastmover strike.

Basically, Inca fucked up, don't understand they fucked up, and don't seem to care that they are continuing to fuck up now.

Quote:Hi Ruff,

We have decided that continuing this war isn't in our best interest anymore.
So we've made an in game peace proposal. We asked Hunting and Meditation and are willing to sign a long term NAP with your civilization.
Maybe there can be even further cooperation in the (near) future.

We know you might think we're asking for much, but considering how this game is going, it's a cheap deal for you.
We can keep whipping our cities and bring in more axes and very soon chariots, since we've got horses in our second city's first ring.
We're pretty sure we can keep a bigger military and keep your cities very small and all tiles unimproved.
And all the techs you have won't change that one iota.

But, as said before, we like to leave that aggresive past behind us and move into a peacefull future with our close neighbours.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Hi, I just gave up my status of only having read one (other) thread to read through this one. My reasoning was: 1) Discworld is awesome. 2) You are using it as a theme.

Anyway, it was a very fun read. Well played (I hope) so far!

I also just wanted to add in reply to something way back: Dune is a really great book. I don't think the other ones were as good but it's actually relatively focused and quite cool in a lot of different ways. I'd compare it to the Ender's Game series; you may or may not like the sequels but the first book is something special.

I actually read Enders Game the other week in less than a day. TBH, I'm not all that impressed, just like I wasn;t impressed with Catch-22. Both books seemed a bit bland.

Well if you read it in one day it can't have been too bad.
I have to run.

I think I have a plan to slave out 2 settlers from AM in the next 6 turns, with AM back down at size 2, and Maths coming very shortly for chopping out a granary. I'll have to be careful with regrowth though, as I can't grow AM above size 4 until t75, unless I pop gems/silver or religion spreads to the city.

I can get away with this because I'll be getting those 2 worekrs from Carthage t68, so I will be up to 6 workers then, and 1.5 workers/city is fine, especially as I will have the forests to chop for new workers...

It wasn't deep and Meaningful though, unlike The Forever War by Joe Haldeman. I'll probably get around to reading Dune one day, but it's not something that I feel that I have to do, or I would regret if I lost the opportunity.

oph yeah, and I traded horses to Portugal for Sheep. I can cancel the deal on t74, or declare war t69 I think, as that is when Portugal finish needing my horses, as they are currently chariot spamming and intend to go fuck Rome up, which keeps me quite happy. I got 1 WC out, to protect the southern horse city I intend to plant, and I also have the promise of a copper gift if I need it for an upgrade (I have 146 gold in the bank, and running at -4gpt). Monotheism won't take that much gold, so I have 1 warrior that I can upgrade, but I'm also building a warrior at DM to act as cover for the fourth city (the one I negoitiated from Carthage for the extra workers).

I'm quite happy with my position, truth be told. I basically got 3 workers (2 upfront) from Carthage for what basically equals my approval at a city site that is technically closer to his capital, usingfood that is closer to his capital as well. While he does need to keep me happy to receive Alphabet, he could just have easily claimed it and said "Stuff you, I have the the power to hold it, it's mine". I'm going to remember this, he behaved damn nicely, and wasn't greedy. If he needs a hand in the future, I'll see what I can do for him.

So, in 10 turns I intend to have 6 workers minimum, granary in AM/DM, 2 new cities and atleast 12 pop total, along with most of the forests to chop. Just need to get the extra workers to chop the forests and plant a few cottages. Once I hook up silver and furs, get a religion in Am, I'm going to shoot it all the way to size 10/11 and see what I can make from there that comes in handy. Could shove out an easy 28 gpp with Obelisk/2 temples, or work 2 food/10 cottages plus silver for a good research city (and try to get a GS for academy and use the Shrine to self fund like a good little boy). With +8 fpt in AM, I can grow pretty quickly...

What could force me to get slightly screwed? A force of 4 charitos would be annoying, but I can move my warrior from Am a tile, request copper, upgrade, change builds to spears and chop out another...the chariots wouldn't be able to touch me. And no one will be stupid enough to bring a pure axe stack up against Egypt, so I feel secure in this environment that I won't get rushed.

WTF? I'm supposed to be getting outstripped massively in all of the stats, and I'm still about middle in crop yield and near the top in the others. Something has gone seriously wrong in this game...

Enders game is a decent book. The later books get progrsivly more philosophical. The shadows series is midly interesting.
Anyway I like it. Thats what matters.

OK, I will have to allow you to not follow my reading recommendations then. smile

Only interesting bit this turn was the moving of the southern scout Abba. Hopefully not too long before she meets someone (Byz, I think?) I also slaved AM for 2 pop, and chopped the last forest prior to maths (only done 3), so I get a settler next turn, overflow into a new settler, build for another turn on t67, and then slave again t68 for a settler for the corn/sheep/fur city.
