Any use for this? :P
I'll start by saying that it was an absolute pleasure to play PB with you guys. The game went extremely smoothly and afaik there was no bad blood over in-game events (except if AT ragequit ). As for the setup, the map was great. Limited tech trading is also fantastic, lets little guys like me catch up and have a reason to care about the game even after I'm "out of it" since I could at least make some impact by keeping up in tech. I guess the downside is that eras go by much quicker, but we still saw a ton of wars in this game so maybe it's acceptable. Events are garbage, Espionage I'm not sure about since I ignored it for the large part. I'll also apologize for my bad play, me being the main neighbor of Bigger probably helped him a lot in securing the victory. But I tried my best even after the fail rush and the dog pile on me, just to keep the game fair. Eventually I did find motivation to play for second place, even though I still think in Civ there is only one winner and the rest are equal losers. Proud that I survived the dog pile, which wasn't really a super organized thing by the four neighbors, but it's still fucking awesome I lived through that and actually ended up watching AT fall while my own empire was mostly intact.
Excited to read the threads and find out what really was going on in the world.

I enjoyed the game.. I think tech trading (with no brokering, which is key) worked here, and the pure ai diplomacy (i.e. like it is in the game) worked from the French perspective, although I understand there is some scandal.. I haven't caught up on all the threads yet.
good job outlasting Azza *and* AT, Jowy.

Cornflakes you should never have attacked me. Taking 3 pretty much junk cities wouldn't help you outgrow Bigger you should have just picked your moment and hit him hard.

Also I feel bad for azza, that start was fucking horrendous. I know I wasn't the one making the map but I still looked at it, I should have said something to get it buffed.

yeah I was surprised at this as well. as soon as you burned the roads I figured you would just do the same thing I did.
I wanted to to take out Krill and take those 3 cities, but with the army AT left him it just wasn't worth the opportunity cost - I would have been to exposed to an attack from you.

GG everyone.
I'd be interested in TT again, but probably only with RBmod, I think it came online too soon. I loved the map too
I also think taking some more powerful leaders was a funner idea, made for a more interesting dynamic IMO.

Perhaps that was not the best. I did not at all attack you for the 3 cities. My reason was that you had a respectable stack of Cannon + Rifles. I lost in all less than 15 Infantry and a couple cannon taking out your cities. That's 4 turns of drafts. I would have had to leave at least that much on defense in Ash in order to prevent you from recapturing AT's former holdings while I was off banging my head against Bigger.

If we really need to hit Bigger ASAP then any cities/land taken off metra is irrelevant, as there's no way it'll pay back in time and if he is beaten, then we'll easily be the next big power. I guess I just don't see why we don't immediately try for peace and invade? this I think was my biggest mistake. I should never have declared war on 2metra. I should have just waited 5 turns to build up more cannon and just tried smashing Bigger (I was light for an invasion at around 30 total compared to 80 Infantry and 30-40 Machine Guns). I could 1-turn build 3-promo units out of 3 cities—Porcupine, Blimp, and Postos—so I'd have about 15 Barrage III cannon added plus another dozen scraped out of the other cities.

I have just been so busy in RL that I haven't put much out-of-game thought into it. The turns were taking me 1-1.5 hours to play just moving units around and managing the cities and I wasn't paying much attention to foreign events. I just had a huge army, and 2metra was engaged in the south with Commodore so I figured I'd attack. Only after the attack was begun did I realize that Bigger was almost to tanks.
Also, I should have kept my last 2 GG's for Commando, rather than settling them in Postos. Yeah, the 3rd promo there is nice and all ... but my scouting impi and Knights revealed that Bigger's most important backlines cities including HE and Wonders-Galore were defended by single warriors and within RR range of a border. Combine that with my 5 Galleons/5 Ironclads in AT waters and I could have made a devastating 1st strike.

??
my HE city was landlocked and not a border city at all.. not sure how you could have threatened it?
most of the cities near your navy/off that big lake were small and young cities I wouldnt have cared much if you razed them. the exception was the one I took from AT that I was pumping all the culture into, but it was defended pretty heavily.
