Thinking of following up the art theme with Banksy's more wellknown pieces as my city names, but I'm not married to it if someone else has a better idea. I do like an art theme, considering.

Our 3rd ring got a lot of love:

Looks like that waterway is very snaky. I was worried we'd have narrow snakes of land which might limit the scope of culture and great artists, but if we're looking at.

Did Charriu code out the tooltip from hovering over your own score? I was trying to calculate tiles of land but maybe that was a casualty of the no score mod we're playing with.

And I believe a flying camera pic was requested but I really dont' have much of a touch for this. Hopefully this is helpful

I did pan around and could not see any mountain silhouettes.

Haven't moved the scout yet, but with all the 3rd ring hills I'm thinking southwest is the way to go.

Yeah, that's a casualty of no-score mod.

Yes, the lack of info on hover is an effect of the no score option. May even be intentional.

It wasn't intentional, but I figured it fits the theme of that toggle.

Sorry i meant satellite view not flying camera!

That looks like coast west of the deer. If that is actually coast then seafood are going to have significant impact on any dot map.

W-SW or NE-SE? Culture picks up the deer and the plains hill on T25 but the south looks bottlenecked in terms of scouting, have to get onto that plains hill forest and then the coast is wonky. Might be better to leave that area to the second scout?

Information is only useful if you can use it for something, so one should not spend resources for information which has no value. On the flip side, it is not possible to gain map information from far away with sending a unit there in the first place, and the use of movement points is a cost. As a corollary, information is cheaper if if costs less in some way, sudh as using fewer movement points to get a unit to the area it needs to be, suggesting that one should send a unit far away when some of the distance travelled costa less ie roads are in place. This presupposes that one continue ro build scouting units (but then chariots can scout, and lack of barbs start influencing decision)

Short answer: shooting deep this early matters if you are thing to find someone in a hurry, such as a T0 chariot rush. There should be a second shooting unit completed around T22 and a warrior T25? So as there is no value knowing about forward settle this early, likely smarter to about for second city location which are probably jo more than 5 roads away from the capital.

I tried messing around with some other openings but I haven't found anything I like as much as the grow to 5 and t31 settler opening Krill proposed. I don't see anything here that changes this. Scout #2 will come out end of t22 and warrior comes end of t25 and we get 3rd ring borders popping end of t24. With all those hills in the 3rd ring we're going to get a lot of sight for where to put city #2. I would very much like to place city #2 by the gold to help with those steep research costs, but we'll see what is what before making that call.

Doing some fog peering, there appears to be quite a bit of water in the fog to the southwest. That plains forest hill is a peninsula and there is water west of the deer as well. So I went east:

Lots of water boundaries now. I think NE-N onto the gold next turn?

EDIT: Or is it worth scouting out over the water line in the east first?
