Nah, I figured a while ago that there are three different starts. One start has fish and then two worse land resources, probably a wet rice or sheep so that at size 4 the yields are broadly similar. This way certain starts will ignore AH, and I was wondering if Cornflakes was one of them. Superdeath seems to have one.
That said this start got shafted on commerce. So hey look at the gold to make it up!
Nothing that can be done about it now.

This is why I don't scout. Scouting lets you know the map has given your opponent grassland silver with wet corn while you get desert hill gold and wheat. Before you scout you are blissfully unaware of this and can continue on in the belief that you are given a chance to compete. If you never look at demos then you don't need to know that opponents were given fish (btw, I think I was wrong about the first-ring part and miscounted turns) while you have clams.
I'm undecided. On one hand, this is not okay. I recall the map in 52 was very much against me. On the other hand, I won 52. Kind of won. Like 2/3 of a win.

How possible would it be to stick city #3 on top of that hill and go into eternal war mode with superdeath over the stupid silver?

Er, you have CRE Greece, you want something, settle it and cram it full of units.
But that is more a city 4 type location.

Well, originally the one between the corn and silver, but you're right about city #3. City 2 needs to grab the best spot nearby; CIty 3 needs to grab copper (though I wouldn't be surprised to find the only copper appear in this area at the rate things are going).
But if we put a city on the hill SE of the corn, that seems a lot more defensible and would also really cripple any attempt by SD to claim that silver.

In my opinion you did win PB52. You did all the important decisions that led to that win. Doesn't matter that somebody else finished it for you.

Couple of points. I even had to go and get a keyboard because I was not going to type this out on a phone.
It is unfair to judge the map without scouting more, without knowing all of the surroundings. We don't know what the south west looks like, there could be plains gems for all we know. Saying that, yes, I agree with your point. We get desert hill gold and SD gets grass silver next to a 6 food corn and a bunch of grassland. Whomever made the map has a poor understanding of the game; I'm having flashbacks to PB5 but at least we found seafood here.
We have CRE Greece. If we don't get rushed we are essentially impossible to kill short of a game long choke and someone getting an entire era of tech ahead ie cannons. Or we fuck up. That's always possible. But we fuck up every single neighbour we are next to, there is essentially no answer to us pushing borders beyond the single city with a holy city, shrine and henge crammed in. All we need is food, and we have enough available to do what we need. Maybe not as fast as we would like, and other players may have better land, but this is playable.
(That said, two grass silver are probably going to control the Classical era tech, we have to sacrifice a settler and a decent food resource to work gold but the silver are just worked in a whip cycle, that growth loss on the desert hills will be brutal).
We have 5 food pigs and wheat in perfect locations to be split off to second through fourth cities if need be, and eot31 a size 5 city which does not need a granary ie can just power out more foodhammer units for 20 turns, and still have 5 easy forest chops. Copper and horse can be pretty much anywwhere except in the direction of someone rushing us and we can make that work. We have a bunch of flood plains we want to cottage, and an easy back city which just needs 2 work boats to make usable (easily get an easy 7-8 stacked whips in there for anything, double and triple whips just stacked away) and a trivial island to settle with stone for trade routes.
Could it be better? Sure. But short of getting rushed, we can artist bomb two players by T110 and that has to make you feel better.
Now, I would not think about a defensive city against either neighbour. I would look for a minimum distance plant to their front city which is on a a hill and I would push. Any tile which is between our cities we should own culturally, and then we murder them out of the fog, plant forward and bomb, with HA pouring through to unprotected cities. So maybe SD plants on that none river hill for easy silver and corn, before we can get close. He probably also plants 1NE of the cow. We plant 1N of the sheep, split his cities and work 2 artists.
