I'm sure we've all known people that have forgotten the utility of the WC frown

Confirmed that's an island on the western coast:

Ouch, going SW-W and then W-NW instead of doing the diagonal SW-SW, NW-NW is going to bite them hard: They just missed out on spotting a deer! Luckily, they will find the agri resource they're look for near the floodplains.

So I've touched on this already. But I'm beginning to realise that Creative is the best trait on this map, and nothing else comes close. GKC and Superdeath (and whoever builds Stonehenge Mjmd) won the picking contest, straight up, although they couldn't know it at the time. And it's driving me crazy! rant  banghead

So, a few of the players have started to notice that CREative is pretty good on this map, which I do agree with. It's also a bias going on; it's much easier to see the benefite that other get that your own, or un-picked traits. I did try to make sure all the traits were worth picking, and CHArismatic is possible the best trait here due to no ivory or furs (pre-astronomy). INDustrious should be slightly better with the lack of large forests. With every city wanting a lighthouse, ORGanized will also have great value, and those long empires will be incuring slightly more maintenance than usual, making courthouses better.

Regarding CREative; those 6 fish are all ocean-based, and by definition second ring to whatever city picks them up. They are also the only 6-food tiles on the map (w/lighthouse). Are those the best cities to build early though? I think the copper and marble sites are worth it, but they're also strong enough that you don't need to expand to the fish ASAP. For the most part you'd want to settle the inner sea, and all the resources there can be grabbed first ring, but some are best left for second ring. I've also made sure to sprinkle forests that can be chopped into monuments.

The issue is that due to the width of the continent, the location of the fish places a severe restriction on the dotmap. Combine it with the capital location and it is a relatively set opening, even if a player goes for a wonder, the cities are going to be settled in a relatively straightforward order, regardless of traits.

Eventually, this will work out into a variation in tech and open a window for someone to make a play for the central areas, by conquest (doesn't matter who settles them, someone will get to knights first).

Has anyone ever gone 26 turns without building a single worker in RB MP before?

24 bpt on turn 26? He'll have a religion if he doesn't dawdle about too much.

That start has an *insane* economy. Good way to get to knights with only three cities.
