Can we send our capital warrior up to help defend after whipping the next settler or will we still need it for MP?

So...We hook copper t41 and can whip a phalanx on t43. That will defend at 8.5 in KC against holland and 6 against axes. T43 we get perfect vision as well.

How long will it take a holkan to reach us?? From his capital it's a joke, but from his second city I'm not sure. But a 7k soldier point increase would not register the most recent whip. We really could do with figuring out the power bump but I think it's AH plus a warrior and his second city reach size 2 so he had 4 pop, which would be another 1k power.

Remember he has probably not worked commerce tiles how we have so he was likely a few turns slower to AH and BW given he started with Myst.

He did open work boat so he has been working a seafood at least.

Honestly I'm not sure there's anything to be done. If he is rushing there's only so much we can do and whether or not we survive comes down to how fast he is

I think if there was a Holkan or axe whipped from his 2nd city then we would see it next turn if it's coming straight for us

The only choice would be to try and prepare a road with all workers and then whip the population in BG into 2 copper units. That would require a change of micro plan which is not a problem really but road would only finish t44. If a holkan turns up next turn it should get odds on a warrior so mehm

If a holkan shows up next turn we blame it on the map, shrug, and the game comes down to one die roll. We have been pretty aware of the possibility of a rush but our copper placement relative to SD’s means there really isn’t a lot we could have done to mitigate that we did not do.

Well, strictly speaking if we settled on the copper we could have whipped 1 turn sooner and it would take on turn longer for a holland to get to us, but if settling on copper is the one right response to any potential rush...Not much of a strategy game.

Pin, did SD have vision on our settler on T37 or not? I know he played t37 before us so could have moved his scout away, but he did have vision on the city tile on t36 and I don't know if he kept his scout still as a sentry.

Tldr if he did not have vision on t37 then he would not have known where we settled until t38, and if he decides to rush in response to that information then he should have to build the units to not dry whip ie if he is rushing, he made the decision to rush before we settled if he whipped those units t37 and t38.

If we move this turn we can get the capital warrior into the city before the holkan can attack. I think we suck up the unhappyface and make the move, a Holkan has to get lucky to kill both warriors before rhe phalanx is built.

I think he knew where our copper was and could reasonably assume we’d settle near it, if not exactly where, and make an early decision to rush on the basis of copper proximity (theoretically). I guess we’ll see if he did. If not his window closes in a couple turns when we get mountains in culture & can see exactly what he’s doing.

SD had BW before we did and knew our copper location before we found it so I agree with you Zed, but given we can stop a rush by moving the capital warrior for the cost of a few hammers and commerce suggests we take the hit.
