I should bar all of you from this thread unless you sign up for a new pb game.

[SPOILER] PB37: Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the most aggressive of them all?

Yeah sure, I could scratch that OCD itch that is micromanagement.
Probably could stand to work on my macro skills too. And Civ 4 is still really fun in MP
Suffer Game Sicko
Dodo Tier Player
When this one finishes or sooner?
Completed: RB Demogame - Gillette, PBEM46, Pitboss 13, Pitboss 18, Pitboss 30, Pitboss 31, Pitboss 38, Pitboss 42, Pitboss 46, Pitboss 52 (Pindicator's game), Pitboss 57
In progress: Rimworld
I don't think the players in this game will pick up another game until it's over, but also don't think this game lasts beyond t200. If the pace keeps up, it'll be done by Thanksgiving.
A new game needs a map maker. I know Joey has said he would likely prefer to make the next map, probably doesn't have the time to play in a new game. If that was firmed up then it should be trivial to get a game set up by early new year. Sucks to be planning games that far in advance, but I don't think a new game would pick up enough people to be viable. Probably going to max out at 12 players anyway. I need to update the mod anyway. Nerf the ikhanda, make the Workboat buildable without fishing.
It probably makes most sense to actually sound people out about a new game. OH, if you are organising one then as far as I'm concerned I'm up for most things excluding the extremes of an islands map or a PB15 replay.
I'd join another 33 player if the map was natural and small.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.
You know, I don't think that the size of the map makes too much difference any more.
I think it is the way the borders play out that leads to most time taken. Managing cities isn't that difficult, it's figuring out what you need to do to manage a.complex situation, and what makes complex situations? Close borders, especially close cities over water. To that end, I think what's probably a better map design is a decent size Pangaea where players aren't that close together, something like the PB27 continents right? And then big islands that are within galley reach. Up to 40, 45 land tiles on the islands. No small islands. Then make sure there is alot of water around the Pangaea and islands, something like 15 tiles of water that has to be crossed over the map border. That makes sure there are safe back lines but navies are still relevant and useful for force projection. It might actually be a larger map than expected, pushing 200 land tiles per player, but much more manageable to actually play.
Earliest I'd even consider signing up for a PB is the new year. I'm currently experiencing the joys of apartment hunting in Toronto and will be moving in November/December
so no time.
