Oh, good plan!
We should also use the final mod version that we're planning to use for the event ... did / does Krill have a chance to finish that?

We can use any version of mod. I dont want to see Krill to retire 3 times in a single game. Do we really want those mod changes?

I can live with or without the mod changes (while the WB change is nice, it does somewhat devalue Fishing as a starting tech), but if we are going to run a test game, we may as well use the final mod just to make sure that everyone has it configured properly before the main game goes live ... have we had a game start yet where no-one has had the mod installed in the wrong place or double-nested in the right one?
If Krill has done the update, great, otherwise we use the previous version - no worries.
Either way, we still need to get Old_Harry or Xenu to set the game up for us.

A test game can be on any old map with random civs and leaders, picked on a first-come first-served basis since it'll only be played out long enough to confirm everything's working and most players can connect at the same time as most other players anyway....
Well I've had a go at this and I thought it was up on pitboss.watto.no:2059, but it isn't working. Xenu? Brick?
(Or do I need to sort out my hosts file?)

I'm aware...I'm also working a significant amount of overtime at the moment. Once I get caught up at work, maybe I can take a shot at this. But hopefully someone else can step up first.

Since noone responded we lack mapmaker. I see 4 options:
1) make a call for mapmaker in general discussion
2) pm famous mapmakers and hope for a new year gift.
3) choose a mapscrript we can play without mapmaker or with minor adjustment.
4) I can resign from playing in honor to make map. Though I dont think it is good idea.

It's sounding like we will be able to get the map accomplished in committee between a few of us. Best guess at a timeline is a couple weeks minimum as we hot-potato it, probably end of the month
