Did you guys mean PB8, or was there extortions in PB5 I'm forgetting? Or I suspect you guys are talking about two different things.
PB5 I used a combination of a massive (for the time), mostly triple promoted, HA stack and the music artist to solidify the core of the main continent. I took and bullied cities from Azza, Rego/Pindi, and then Nakor. That was what opened up the route to the 7 city subcontinent that I was able to settle in the 10 turn peace treaty window that Dazed gave (I think Dazed was playing some turns at that timeand you might have been busy with RL?)
The extortions happened before we had contact IIRC.

Man, i feel like Mjmd is being too greedy. He should have had some sort of military tech to help contest if TBS runs over Nauf.
Bet is probably lost unless TBS fucks up, or Nauf holds his own for awhile.

"just got optics for the hell of it" "after nauf torpedoed by game" .... sigh. Its 1 island, still a dumb decision, but still. With neither of them thinking it would be a good idea to attack the monster-teching person early... fuck me lol. Its like, you think in 30t when he is a full military gen ahead of you its gonna be easier? Nauf attacking at maces, and Mjmd doing what he can thru that really REALLY shitty border he has with TBS, probably could have been enough. Im assuming they are just playing for fun now. Nauf obviously has been from the start with Boudicca of Portugal, but still. Xist i feel will EVENTUALLY conquer that side of the world, but i doubt it will be fully conquered before TBS achieves tanks.
Im still in a state of semi-sadness that i didnt get put in the greener island. But, given how... meh his starting location is, i dont know if id do too much better.

Next time they play this variant TBS and Hitru can have a 40 tile island, comprising entirely of tundra and ice (bonus marks for anyone that gets the reference).
