I think their early whip threw them a bit slowing them down also, plus they spent a lot of turns moving slowly through jungle with the first settler that could have been spent going somewhere else.

I'm surprised you granted the reload, it wasn't on Mr. Cairo to pay attention to a turnsplit that didn't exist...
It's a grey area. If the game hadn't been promptly paused I probably would not have. As it is, only one person outside the parties involved had to replay and they did not have any combat or RNG that would potentially come out different.
I will give Gawdzak some suggestions on how to handle this better in the future, though.

Yeah, IMO Gawdzak should have PMed Mr Cairo to tell him about the turnsplit. It's unfortunate that gives Mr Cairo a turn of notice but I think that's better than everyone assuming that every potential turnsplit exists.
Ichabod looks like he has this all wrapped up. He will smash Jowy, and probably be able to take all of the Adrien/mr cario land too quickly which will be lacking cultural borders and have damaged units throughout. Gawdzak has a completely crippled Eco and won't be able to keep up. Well played!
I think Gawzdak is posing with his small income. He has pyramids and nothing is lost for him so far. Mr Cairo showed him well too, lets see how he deals with real danger.
Ichabod going for Lib and Gawdzak going for Nationalism keeps it nicely balanced. I presume Ichabod wouldn't win the Taj race so I hope he doesn't wobble.

This map is based on the unused PB24 map (which is based on the PB1 map), onto which a stencil that looks kinda like a yin-yang symbol was placed to carve out the actual map geography, upon which new "Jungle Ruins" starts were riveted on top in new locations, and then finally all the disparate pieces were "airbrushed" together. Also, some resources were replaced to make it easier to name them after monsters. (e.g. some corns, wheats, and rices became sheeps, deers, and cows) Oh, and the map is Toroidal now, with a gigantic world snake ringing the whole thing.
So, the base map isn't really recognizable anymore... |
