I was hesitant to be the first one to suggest a pause for this weekend when I suspected there would be other teams besides ours that needed one, and we'd be stuck using all ours to benefit multiple teams. Hopefully that's not what happens.

This is difficult to plan, because we have no idea what time the timer is going to roll this far in advance. Ref can play a turn Friday evening up until about 9 or 10PM EST, so hopefully people don't conspire to roll the turn just after Ref leaves.... I won't be able to play another turn until either late Sunday night, probably after midnight EST, or sometime Monday. It's possible we won't need it paused more than 48-60 hours unless the turn rolls at a screwy time.

We'd be happy to use one pause, with England using one of therirs, and I hope that would be acceptable for the amount of time we'd need. Since we can't seem to find another player, I'll do my best to keep things going while traveling, but, the way our summer looks, if we end up using 2 or 3 pauses here, we're going to miss turns later in June I'm afraid.

Note that we're still looking/hoping for a non-pause-based solution anyway, if only to move the game forward (since it doesn't look like most teams are hoping for a pause then on the general principle that it's U.S. Memorial Day Weekend). Further to Maniac's point above, we might not even need a pause, as Cull might be able to play a couple of turns then (not sure what his schedule will be like then). More generally, I posted a request for help in the main civ forum, and so far got one response:

I followed Bismark of India for a short bit (maybe a handful of turns in) before I stopped checking up on PB3. If you don't get anyone else, I could help out.

My feeling is that this is Too Spoiled; there's no telling how much a lurker might have learned and (even subconsciously) remembered from reading someone's thread early on. I figured I'd quote the post here though, since if India and everyone else think it's fine, I don't want to stand in the way of a player joining and speeding up the game.

So, I was playing my turn, and all of a sudden I was unable to make any changes. Now, when I try to log in, Civstats still thinks I'm logged in, but I'm not. And the connection times out when I try to log in.

Game seems to be down: no connection to Civstats and unable to contact host.

Hi all,

Of course the game goes down for the first time on my FIOS connection (6 weeks or so of uptime wasn't too bad) literally two hours after I leave for the airport to fly to Florida for a wedding.

I've called Verizon and they tell me the Optical Network Terminal isn't talking to them, so there are two possibilities here:

1) the terminal needs to be reset, which sadly won't be able to happen until Monday morning, or...

2) the fiber optic cable is unplugged because Verizon is finally burying me a permanent cable and removing the temporary one running along the surface of my and my neighbor's (!) yard. The timing suggests it may be this option since I called and bugged Verizon about this Thursday morning and because the service has otherwise been reliable.

If it ends up being option 2 you can expect the internet to return in a few hours. If it's option 1 than I'm very sorry the timing is so bad, but we'll have to reload back to today's turn on Monday.

OK, well, the game suddenly rematerialized, but before you get your hopes up, it's now turn 110, so a reload is still going to be needed heh.

I paused the game. There are 12 hours left on T110, and we need to reload to T109.

Yeah, need a reload to t109, I didn't get a chance to play that turn due it being down in (both) of my play windows.
