Production.
I believe the barbs move at the start of the next turn, meaning it's occasionally possible to get your next turn's move in before them, although I haven't tried it...

A full report is coming very soon, but for now, let me give you an overview.
This is the Babylonian League as of Turn 81. This is the civilization that has ten cities. All the others are tied with a mere five. This is the civilization with a crop yield of 99. Second place has 62. This is the civilization that I think may be winning the game at the moment. Any questions?

F6:
(all technologies we have are included in this screenshot)
Our poor economy is our greatest problem; it is the weakest one in the game. Our average tech rate is around ten beakers per turn. nausten and superdeath are not far ahead, though the gap is larger than the demographics alone suggest, because our GNP is much more inflated with culture than theirs, but after their war, I think that they are the least worrisome rivals still alive anyway. On the other hand, Mr. Cairo is in a league all of his own. He is making 45 gold per turn compared to our mere 10 … and I know that because he has Currency now, for all the good that it will do him with five cities. Yay for +5 gpt, I guess?
There are a few plans in motion to close this huge gap. I will explain the one that involves the most violence first.
A barbarian city spawned in the no-man’s land tundra over here a while ago, but now that we have settled Bratislava (thanks superdeath! I am not sure we could have done it without you distracting nausten) the barbarian city is in the my-land tundra. If the city is defended by warriors, then I will send an axeman to whittle them down, but defer the final blow until I need the gold for a technology so it can grow as much as possible. Plan liable to change if there are any good tiles in the area, or if nausten comes calling with a galley to snipe my barbarian treasure chest. If the city is defended by archers, then I will need to reconsider. Barbarianopolis might still be worth taking soon, since it is a way to convert what I have a lot of, food and hammers, into what I do not have a lot of, gold, through the medium of units, but the trade would not be as good that way, and it might be better to wait until swords.
Next, Ormus is working on the Great Lighthouse. It will be close, but we can finish Masonry EOT 86. By that time, Ormus will have a workboat, a lighthouse, and a spearman most of the way to completion, as well as the population to whip one after the other to cascade into the wonder itself. At 15 hammers per turn, we should be done on Turn 95 or 96. That is late for a normal game, but in this small game, I think that we stand a decent chance of success.
Lastly, there are the least interesting plans. In my infinite genius, I have decided that the best way to improve the economy is to build cottages and libraries. There is not much more to say about that, other than that this would be a lot easier if we had another river somewhere.
Also, take note of Bo the Bowman, the unit being hovered over in this screenshot. This badass individual took on the raging barbarian hordes of the south nearly alone* for a span a turns, and as a result has now reached 8 experience and unlocked the Heroic Epic. From now on, all bowmen will be known as Bomen in his honor.
*Of course, if he had not been alone, then maybe the barbarians would not have been able to pillage both pig pastures, but I will take what I can get out of that -tastic fiasco. Let us never speak of it again.
