[PB66] Lurking the Chaos

Until a week ago, the P&P report was probably the most active, but in german.
It sounds like P&P now see the war as a mistake. They think they will be able to hold against Mjmd, but it never really sounds as if they expect a (military) victory.
Even their're war declaration was more "sink a few ships with local superiority and airships" than "wage a serios war". It sounds, they were prepared to wage a longer war, but not against the fleet Mjmd has.
As far as ambitions for victory are concerned, they have buried them for the time being, since they do not see themselves in a position to develop a significant lead or hold against serious attacks from 2, 3 players.

I think no to both of you. He can't win militarily because he can't do this, because he can't attack anyone else. If he does, and it looks like he's winning, P+P (or Gav, or Tarkeel) can pile in from the other side and stop him. That's why I was saying the Kremlin economy is only game-winning in zero sum games, or near enough.
Past Games: PB51  -  PB55  -  PB56  -  PB58 (Tarkeel's game)  - PB59  -  PB60  -  PB64  -  PB66  -  PB68 (Miguelito's game)     Current Games: None (for now...)

Superdead.

Also, in light of Pitboss 59's example, is Gavagai correct about Nukes and Commandos and late-game warfare? I'm not sure.

Nukes + commandos is basically an auto-win against those that over-railroad or cannot/dont use MG's/ect to block the way to cities.
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. [Image: noidea.gif] In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

Did Plemo just ask other players to concede...

I read that as him proposing a draw. Think it's reasonable to ask the question as these types of turns can be incredibly draining.

I read it as an offer to agree a draw between multiple players

The current Always Peace conversion discussions make me wonder whether we ought to consider a game rule where at Turn X the game converts to always peace automatically. It's a pretty out-there idea, but late-game war with big empires are incredibly NOT fun to play most of the time, so games either die or get won by whoever's real-life is most able to deal with them plowing hours a night into the game. That or normalize very slow late-game turn pace, but that can be quite frustrating for those who are out of the running and are playing out the string out of duty. If one player happens to be way ahead at the conversion point, well GG WP.

Around about nukes, or earlier? The moment someone builds Manhatten project the game converts to Always Peace definitely fits and gives players control over it...

Oh that would be a really interesting way to handle it.
